Scripture Union suspends Samuel Jaisundar for soliciting explicit photos of girls

SCRIPTURE UNION, a children’s ministry that works with schools and is involved in VBS, youth camps and retreats, has placed Samuel Jaisundar under suspension after a Twitter user (@JoelGiftson17) leveled serious allegations against him on Sunday evening.

The allegations related to Samuel Jaisundar, who works with the Scripture Union (SU) as secretary of its English department and is based out of Coimbatore, engaging in inappropriate text chats with minor girls and soliciting explicit photos of underage girls whom he had met at VBS, retreats or youth camps at schools, children’s homes and other places.

The press release issued by Mr. N. Joshua Kirubaraj, the national director of SU, on Monday afternoon after the media including The Christian Messenger took up the issue stated: ‘Following serious allegations, Scripture Union & CSSM Council of India after taking cognisance of the nature of allegations has placed Mr. Samuel Jaisundar, Secretary English Department under suspension with immediate effect (05-10-2020 Monday).

He is directed not to carry out any Scripture Union related work during the period of suspension.

Proper enquiry will be conducted as per the rules and regulation of the organization.

Three other staff namely Mr. Reuben Clement, Mr. Albert and Ms. Janet Ebenezer who have been mentioned in connection with this are currently under investigation.
