JOEL Giftson, the young man from Vellore who exposed the inappropriate behavior of some Scripture Union (SU) staff with school girls through a series of tweets on Twitter on Sunday (Oct 4), has written to the head of the organization giving a clean chit of sorts to Mr. Albert, another SU staffer whose name also came up in a flurry of tweets initially.

The whistle blower wrote an email to Scripture Union this morning (Oct 7) practically absolving Mr. Albert of any wrongdoing.

Mr. Albert was also copied in the email with the subject line, ‘Letter seeking apology for misinformation’.

In the email, he writes about the origin of the controversy surrounding the two SU staffers: “On 4th October I have put out a tweet regarding the pedophilic behavior of two of your staffers. Although I brought in Mr. Albert’s name I had clearly mentioned that there was nothing inappropriate in his messages. However, I came to know that the media and Scripture Union has also included his name in the enquiry.

“This is completely my fault because first of all I shouldn’t have dragged his name in if there was nothing inappropriate. I apologize for the blunder I have made. We have talked to all the victims who spoke to us regarding this issue and we found no allegations regarding Mr. Albert.

“I kindly request you to not conduct any enquiry or defame Mr. Albert. He is completely innocent in this issue. Please forgive me for creating such a mess in his family.

The letter ends with complimenting SU for ‘standing up for what’s right.’

A day before he sent the email to SU, Giftson put out the following tweet on his Twitter page:

On Oct 6, Scripture Union lodged a complaint with the Chennai Commissioner of Police. In the complaint, SU named both Samuel Jaisundar and Reuben Clement for allegedly sending inappropriate texts to female school students, many of whom were still minors.
