CSI has undertaken a public human rights advocacy campaign to highlight the causes and effects of the violence in Manipur. In short, CSI has not and will not turn a blind eye to the pogroms in Manipur and especially the plight of our targeted brothers and sisters in Christ, said Christian Solidarity International's president John Eibner in an interview with The Christian Messenger.

The incident took place on August 3, 2023, when several armed miscreants allegedly looted 300 arms, 19,800 ammunition, and 800 types of munitions, as well as accessories from two rooms of the IRB Headquarters in Naranseina, Bishnupur district.

Tensions had been rising for months in Manipur — one of India’s smallest states, located in the far northeast of the country — when thousands of people gathered May 3 for a rally in the state’s Churachandpur district.
