The Metropolitan Bishop of Believers Eastern Church, Moran Mor Athanasius Yohan (formerly known as K P Yohannan), was seriously injured in a car accident on Tuesday in Texas.
The accident occurred around 5:25 pm Indian time. An unidentified vehicle hit him while he was coming out of his house for his morning walk. Yohannan, who suffered serious injuries, was admitted to the intensive care unit of a hospital.
A spokesperson for the church said he underwent an emergency surgery.
He usually goes for morning walk at the campus in Texas where the Believers Eastern Church is located. On Tuesday morning, he went outside the campus. He had only come back to the US from a visit to India four days ago.
