Not forsaken!

HOW many times do you feel rejected, unloved, unworthy, not receiving any kind of respect from your family, colleagues, friends, etc.? Someone who is wandering in search of acceptance from the society they live in but finally end up getting secluded from all the ends? At some phase of our lives, we might have undergone such feelings & situations. To get a better picture of such rejections in our lives, which happens because of the weaknesses we have as a human. Let’s take a few characters from the Bible who were like us and unapproved by the society they lived in. First, David (The youngest among his seven brothers was a forgotten shepherd), Second, Moses (a person who faced countless failures in his life), Third, Daniel (who was held as a captive), Fourth, Paul (who persecuted the followers of Christ). All these individuals lacked something or the other and you may find some similarities with their weaknesses too, but one important note that we have to conclude from these characters is that they didn’t die nor did they live longer with these barriers but they hold great testimonies of change, good position holders and as leaders. David who was a forgotten one was chosen by God to become a King, Moses led the people of Israel to come out of Egypt, Daniel who was a captive was appointed to a high position and Paul the persecutor was changed to this extent that he became a powerful apostle who led many people to follow Jesus.

Although these characters didn’t see the changes instantly, for their process to become great examples for others took years of patience, suffering, and struggle. They might have thought never will their life situations alter and never will they see a ray of hope, but will die in those circumstances only. And it’s here that we see the grand entry of Our Majestic & Mighty Lord changing the whole definition (of never) into something more meaningful and optimistic. The book of Isaiah 55:8-9 fits aptly here that “the thoughts of our Heavenly Father for us are far better than the thoughts we have for ourselves”. God promises His people a beautiful and unchanging promise which is almost eight times mentioned in different books of the Bible and i.e. ‘I (God) will never leave you nor forsake you’. Here God’s promise is not viewed pessimistically but as a ray of hope for all of us who have somewhere or the other been abandoned by the world, but He(God) has not given up on us and has not left us as orphans. Although we face rejections from the world, we stand as a failure in many places of our lives, someone who thinks nothing will change the situations, but remember what the holy word says: that ‘God will never leave you nor forsake you.’ These characters mentioned above were treated as nothing by the people, but God changed them into something great that today we quote them as an example, so we are encouraged by their lives.

The word ‘forsake’ literally means to leave someone completely when they need you the most and we can very well relate to this, for we see children abandoning their old aged parents, a mother leaving her newborn, couples when not able to understand each other, forsaking each other and the list goes on but God who is the same yesterday and today and forever (Hebrews 13:8) gives you the commitment that He would never leave you nor forsake you rather He would come to you to comfort you (Psalm 23:4, 6), love you (John 3:16), heal you (Psalm 147:2) because He is a God, not a human who lies and forgets (Numbers 23:19). So, let’s put our trust in Him & confess our weaknesses to Him. You might be like Moses who only sees failures in his life, like David who is forgotten, may be a slave to something like Daniel but whoever you are and wherever you are God will uplift you and deliver you, so just surrender to Him and let Him mould you into something as He desires to see you, give your life control buttons to Him and you will land in a place that you never dreamt of for ‘He will never leave you nor forsake you’ (Hebrews 13:5).
