It’s all about His glory!

In the original Greek language, the phrase “beholding as in a mirror” means gazing with wide-open eyes, as at something remarkable; to mirror oneself, to intensely position against.

Good morning!

Nevertheless, when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Corinthians 3:16-18 NKJV

DEAR Child of God,

I have a special reminder for you today: we are in the royal lineage of God and our lives have a purpose. That’s important to remember, especially in these unprecedented times when we can be overwhelmed with outside interference, so much so that we can easily lose sight of our true identity—who we are and who we were created to be. Imagine standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the saints and believers who have labored before us. We are obligated to be lower-case gods who reflect the glory of the upper-case GOD whom we serve.

When the Scripture talks of a veil being taken away, it means the Spirit of the Lord can dwell within each of us. That’s a gift from God—removing the “veil of separation.” Because the Spirit of the Lord dwells in each of us, we are given liberty—that is, freedom. You might ask, “Freedom to do what?” The most wonderful thing we can do: give God glory! This leads to the question: “But what is glory?” Here are some synonyms for glory (or doxa in the Ancient Greek language): great praise, honor, distinction, adoration, worshipful thanks-giving,  splendor, heavenly bliss. Beautiful words. God is worthy of glory and honor. He thrives upon receiving glory. He longs for and appreciates glory above our problems, priorities, pressures, inconveniences, inabilities, incomprehension, containment, careers. He desires glory. God’s personal priority is to receive glory, and He wants to maximize glory to Him. You may have heard the term ROI—return on investment. God counts glory as a return on His investment in us. | 16 Hours in Heaven: Available on Amazon |

In other words, everything God does is motivated by His desire for glory, including His creation of us and His salvation of us. So, if we want to please and bless God, we must accept His glory in our lives. In return, we ourselves are transformed into that glory. That’s worth an Amen!

In the original Greek language, the phrase “beholding as in a mirror” means gazing with wide-open eyes, as at something remarkable; to mirror oneself, to intensely position against. So,
2 Corinthians 3:18 is saying that as we “fix our gaze” on the glory that is in His Word by constantly receiving it and adjusting our lives against the image set forth in Him, mirroring ourselves by His ways and standards, we are transformed into that image—the glory of God—growing from one degree of glory to the next, by His Spirit.

Prayer

Lord, we thank You, and we bless Your name. We honor You. Thank You for giving us Your word today, knowing that we are transformed into the very same image from glory to glory, as the Spirit helps us, and as we make the decision to help ourselves. So, God, right now, I pray that as we go about this day, someone will see Your glory shining from us, and that their lives will be touched, and they will be drawn to You. Give us Your divine favor, give us Your divine blessing, keep us safe and sound; in the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen. | To buy the book, click here. |
