THOUSANDS of lay people, pastors and international delegates from all over the world will be part of the World Assemblies of God Congress 2011 that begins in Chennai from Feb 6 onwards.

The meeting to be held from Feb 6 to 9 will be hosted by the New Life Assembly of God (NLAG) church in Saidapet, Chennai.

This congress has been described as a time for the entire Assemblies of God family to gather together to thank God for His great grace in the past and present and ask for His blessing in the future.

Chairman of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship George O Wood, President of Calvary International Ministries Prince Guneratnam, former executive director of AG World Missions L John Bueno, founder of NLAG church David Mohan and General Superintendent of South India Assemblies of God P S Rajamoni are among the speakers of the conference.

According to a note from the organizers, the AG World Congress will serve as the launch for the goals leading up to 2020. At the conference each member country will present its goals to the Congress to combine for the worldwide goals.

Chairman of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship George Wood said the conference would be a powerful opportunity for Christians to see the church of Jesus Christ in action.

New Life Assembly of God (NLAG) is a 40,000 member church located in the heart of Chennai, India. It was founded in 1973 under the leadership of Rev. David Mohan.

NLAG conducts 13 services in nearly 4 languages as thousands of people throng every week to worship God. The church is in the process of building a 55,000 capacity auditorium called the New Life Celebration Center.

The Assemblies of God has grown to over 63 million members worldwide and is the largest Pentecostal Fellowship in the world. There are currently more than 140 fellowships that are members of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship.

The purpose of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship is to pursue the fulfillment of the Lord’s command to evangelize the lost in the shortest possible time, providing them the opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel in all of its fullness, by encouraging and assisting one another, promoting harmonious relationships, and seeking the most effective means of its accomplishment under the dynamic leadership of the Holy Spirit, according to a release.
