Evangelist Prakash Yesudian enters glory

The fiery and gifted evangelist and author entered heavenly rest in the early hours of today (July 22). He breathed his last at his home in Chennai. He was 70.

Bro. Prakash Yesudian was born in 1944. His parents hailed from Kumarapuram Thoppur in Kanyakumari district. His father Yesudian Gnanakkan worked as an administrator at a tea estate in Pachcha Malai near Valparai. Prakash Yesudian had his school education at Valparai until 8th standard.

Later, he joined Sethupathi High School at Madurai. During his college days at the American College in Madurai, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. At a young age, he committed his life to the Lord’s work.

In 1965, he joined ‘Youth for Christ’ and served the Lord in Palayamkottai, Nagercoil, Madurai and Thiruvananthapuram. He went on to become a convention preacher. He also worked in various capacities in Christhuvukku Sthanapathi and Bethel Agricultural Fellowship.

His radio programmes, ‘Sathiya Vasanam’, ‘Aradhanai Velai’ and ‘Eleventh Hour’ presented Jesus Christ and His Gospel to people from various walks of life. Friends Missionary Prayer Band published his first book, ‘Launch out’ based on his ministry experience. The same book later grew into a bigger volume titled ‘Fishers of Men’.

He served as director of RZIM Life Focus Society. He was also a popular Christian lyricist. Some of his well-known songs include ‘Enakkai jeevan vittavare, ennodirukka ezhunthavare’ and ‘Ulagor unnai pagaithaalum unmaiyai anbu kooruvaayaa’.

He is survived by his wife Rani Yesudian, children Shiny Yesudian Abraham and Billy Yesudian. Prakash Yesudian’s elder brother is Y Thangabose, founder of ABC Prayer Fellowship in Chennai.
