ISRAELI lawmakers are making a push to allow Jews to pray at a key holy site in Jerusalem’s Old City.
The site is known to Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary and to Jews as the Temple Mount.
There’s currently a ban on Jewish prayer there, but this month Israeli Knesset members asked Jordan to allow limited Jewish worship there.
Jordan oversees Muslim affairs at that site.
Muslim authorities say Israel is trying to encroach upon the site where they believe the prophet Mohammed ascended to Heaven.
Jews believe the rock may be where the holiest part of the two ancient Jewish Temples stood about 2,000 years ago and where a third will one day be built.
