People

Jan 1: Rededicate your family to the Lord today. Even as you thank Him for the wonderful way in which He cared for you and protected you, ask Him to cover you and your family in the blood of the Lamb this new year. Pray that 2011 may be a year of new revelation from God and a year of greater closeness with the Lord.

Jan 2: Pray for CS today. The young minister of God needs the healing touch of Jesus Christ. Pray that he is healed of the sickness in the body and is able to discharge his ministerial responsibilities well.

Jan 3: Pray for The Christian Messenger evangelists working in Tamil Nadu, Jammu, Kerala and Punjab. May the Lord surround them and their families with His mercies. May they be ever ready to preach the Gospel of peace (Ephesians 6:15).

Jan 4: Pray for David Emmanuel, a graduate student in Pakistan, who wants to dedicate his life for fulltime ministry of the Lord.

Jan 5: Pray for ER today. She suffers from recurrent pain in the back. Pray that she is able to claim God’s healing and be a mighty witness to the Lord.

Jan 6: Pray for SS. He is a Muslim working in an IT company. May the Creator of heaven and earth reveal Himself to this man as the Savior of the world.

Jan 7: Continue to pray for KV. The Christian businessman is in huge debts and needs a miracle to get out the mess he is in. May the Lord’s hand guide him and protect him.

Jan 8: Will you pray for your spouse and children today? If you are single, pray for your parents, siblings and other relatives. Pray that they will come to know the love of God and live as worthy witnesses to His name.

Jan 9: Pray for those who rule over us, according to 1 Timothy 2:2. That God may grant them wisdom and compassion and make them open to the Gospel.

Jan 10: Pray for your pastor – that God will give him more grace (James 4:6), spiritual revelation through the Holy Spirit (John 14:26), anointing (Isaiah 10:27) and holiness (1 Peter 1:15,16).

Issues

Jan 11: Pray for the safety of our country. According to a Mumbai police intelligence report, four Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorists have sneaked into India to cause massive destruction in that city.

Jan 12: Half-a-dozen attacks on Christians by fundamentalists elements have been reported from different parts of India. The attacks happened in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka a week before Christmas last month.

Jan 13: Pray for the safety of Christians living in North Korea. Christians in that country have suffered government-sanctioned persecution ever since the brutal communist regime came to power. They are imprisoned, tortured and even killed for their faith.

Jan 14: India has the largest number of illiterates in the world, according to the government’s own admission a few years ago. Pray that the underprivileged sections of society, women and minorities will be equipped to deal with the challenges of a modern society.

Jan 15: Pray that the spread of HIV in India is contained. The highest HIV prevalence rates are found in Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka in the south and Manipur and Nagaland in the north-east.

Jan 16: Despite government’s efforts to control tuberculosis, the disease continues to kill 2 persons every 3 minutes or 1,000 people every day in India, according to TB Control India. Pray for the healing of the affected and the ailing.

Jan 17: Pray that India becomes a safer place for women and children. According to police records, around 433 cases of rape were reported in New Delhi in 2010 alone. There has been a 678 percent increase in rape cases in India since 1971.

Jan 18: In 2007, there were 25 million orphans in India, according to a data. Pray for the orphans in the country, that doors will be opened for their rehabilitation. God expects us to look after them (James 1:27).

Jan 19: Pray for peace in the middle east region. There is general strife among Christians living in the region with many emigrating to Europe and the US to escape persecution.

Jan 20: Continue to pray for Christians in Orissa’s Kandhamal district. Pray that God who gives justice to His elect (Luke 18:7) will wipe away all their tears.

Nations

Jan 21: Pray for the peace of Jerusalem today. Christians account for only 2.1 percent in Israel, while Jews constitute 75.8 percent and Muslims form 16.8 percent of the population. Pray according to Psalm 122:6.

Jan 22: Pray for Iraq today. As Christians are being targeted and threatened for their faith, pray that the new government will take concrete steps to protect their lives and property.

Jan 23: Pray for the people of Jamaica today. As many as 62.5% of the Jamaican population belong to the cult group the Seventh Day Adventist while 9.5% of them are Pentecostals. Jamaicans should know Jesus Christ more closely in the coming days.

Jan 24: According to a 2006 census, 87.4% of the Irish population is Catholic while 2.9% belong to Church of Ireland. Pray that the Irish people will know Lord Jesus Christ in a more intimate way.

Jan 25: Pray for Japan today. Christianity is a minority religion there with less than 1% of the population claiming Christian belief or affiliation. Many cities and towns in Japan still have no Christian church.

Jan 26: Pray for Haiti today. Though 15% of the Christians are Protestant evangelicals, witchcraft and voodoo are still popular in many areas of that country.

Jan 27: Honduras is known for its excess mortality rate due to AIDS. As a result it is common to see higher infant mortality and higher death rates here than in other countries.

Jan 28: Christians account for only 4.5% of the population in Taiwan. Pray that the Taiwanese people will come to know the love of Jesus Christ.

Jan 29: Pray for Iran where reports of imprisonment, harassment, intimidation and discrimination based on religious beliefs are common. Pray for new ways to be opened for the Gospel to be preached in Iran.

Jan 30: Pray fro Sri Lanka today. Pray for the hundreds of thousands of hapless Tamils who live a miserable life in the island nation. Pray for open doors to Gospel.

Jan 31: Let’s intercede for our country today. May every one of its peoples have an opportunity to hear the Gospel, read the Bible in their own language and come to the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
