THE Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church is ‘not uncomfortable’ with the Narendra Modi government, the supreme head of the church, Baselios Marthoma Mathews II, has said.

The metropolitan said the situation was, however, not the same for other Christian denominations especially the Catholic church.

“Except for an isolated incident, we haven’t faced any bad experience under the Modi government,” the bishop said and predicted that there was every chance of the BJP retaining power next year at the Centre.

The metropolitan said he had spoken with BJP and RSS leaders about the situation other Christian denominations faced.

“We told them to condemn the attacks and punish the culprits. However, even cases are not registered in many incidents,” he added.
