Embrace and retain an eternal perspective

Are you ready to live forever?
We are all going to die one day. But are we ready to live forever?

By Agnes Amos-Coleman

MY friends, death is one of those topics we don’t want to talk about, yet it is unavoidable whether we like it or not because we all have an appointment with death sooner or later.

The reality we should embrace daily is how to live to our full God given potential here on earth (now) and still retain an eternal perspective (for the future).

As followers of Jesus Christ, the Bible gives us the word of hope and comfort that should motivate us to embrace and retain an eternal perspective. We find it in Philippians 3:20-21. The verses state: “But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body”.

Now that we have these amazing promises, we should daily:

  • Maintain a sense of urgency: Living each day of our life as if it could be the last. Doing this will allow us to stay in awareness of God’s presence.
  • Use our time and resources wisely: Reflecting daily on whether we are using our God given time and resources to please ourselves or to build the work of the kingdom. This is so important because we could build here on earth where fire will consume all, or we build towards our eternal future and that of others.

Christ follower, may the fire of eternity daily burn in our hearts In Jesus’ Name. Amen. If you are currently not a Christ follower, seek ye first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness today.

All glory to God!
