THE investigation into the gruesome murder of Sister Valsa John is gathering momentum with the loding of the FIR (first information report) against 3 individuals at Ambrapara police station.
The FIR has named Advin Murmu, a Pachuara resident, and two others. Police is also questioning seven villagers who were once associated with the nun.
On Nov 18, Jharkhand Mines Area Co-ordination Committee, supported by several civic and human rights organizations, organized a protest march in Ranchi. The protesters alleged that the murder had been carried out by the mining company and not by the Maoists.
According to a media report, a senior official of Panem Coal Mines Ltd had visited Valsa’s home soon after the murder. It is he, who had submitted a number of Maoist posters to the Police, saying that he had recovered them from Sr. Valsa’s place, protesters alleged.
