Zondervan warehouseCHRISTIAN publishing giant Zondervan is tipped to close its warehouse and eliminate 75 jobs in June 2012.

The change management will happen because the publishing company’s parent company HarperCollins is changing its business plan and moving over to on-demand publishing.

According to a report in the Grand Rapids Press, HarperCollins Publishers entered into ‘breakthrough’ global supply chain agreement with its longtime printer RR Donnelley, the company announced recently.

The report said the deal is the first of its kind for a major general trade publisher. According to the deal, RR Donnelley will handle orders for all HarperCollins new releases from its Harrisonburg, Va., facility beginning in November.

From July 2012, RR Donnelley will begin executing orders Zondervan, the report said.

According to Larry Nevins, executive vice president of operations and technology for HarperCollins, consolidating warehouse operations to one location will help HarperCollins in the publishing industry.
