A couple of years ago, I had to go to a Medical College in Bangalore as an examiner.
As was my wont, I was humming some of my favorite songs when there was a break from work. A young fellow doctor on duty heard my guttural ‘symphony’ and approached me.
Amith Ramos shocked me when he said he chose to do MD Anatomy in St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore over MS Orthopaedics, General Surgery, MD General Medicine and Pediatric courses available at Father Muller Medical College in Mangalore. He confided in me about his decision. His career had to go along with his passion for music. Later that evening, he brought his musical instruments to the room where I was staying.
Ramos is part of a band called Cross Legacy – an Indian Christian Rock band that was formed in Bangalore in 2006. One of their numbers, the National Anthem will make you spellbound. They released their single ‘Legacy’ in 2012. Recently, they released their first full-fledged album titled ‘A New Dawn’. It features Christian rock music on the lines of Skillet, Switchfoot and Newsboys. Besides Amith Ramos, Bijoy Thangaraj, Billy Sunday, Isaac Theogaraj and Jagan Jayaraj make up the band.
This team of Facebookers is hopeful of bringing some transformation in people through their music. Don’t expect slow acoustic worship songs, because these guys will make you rock. So, fasten your seat belts. Mind you, the genre is melodious rock. Since the lyrics are provided, its easy to follow the songs. After listening to the songs, you will join the band in singing that you will never turn back or slow down in sharing the good news. You will bow down in adoration over the awesome power of God and His wisdom.
