OPEN Doors USA is hearing from some of the churches about the masses of displaced families who were forced out of their homes and left homeless, living in public parks or the wilderness.

“The violence has pushed people out of their homes, fleeing for their lives. Many are displaced internally and many others are external refugees living in the most humiliating circumstances, deprived of even shelter, clean water, power, food and medical care.”

CHRISTIANS have borne the brunt of regime changes in both Egypt and Syria. Unrest remains part of the landscape. While the people can agree they want to be free from oppressive regimes, no one can seem to agree on who will be in charge.

MUSLIM extremists, along with members of the Nigerian army, allegedly killed 24 Christians during mid-August in Nigeria’s Plateau state, according to Compass Direct News.

ADVOCACY Director for Open Doors USA Lindsay Vessey says: “The US government was very active in working with them in drafting a new text, so it’s no longer a ‘Defamation of Religions Resolution,' but it’s actually a new resolution on promoting religious tolerance.”

ANOTHER Christian died at the hands of Pakistan’s disputed blasphemy law this week. The cause of death has been deemed a heart attack by the government, but many believe he may have been murdered.
