THE CHRISTIAN MESSENGER | MESSENGER MISSIONS

WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO!

GOSPEL MELA 2016:

Sharing the love of Jesus Christ to those who do not know about Him is the primary aim of Gospel Mela. In India, there are 2,234 people groups spread across 1.2 billion people in 29 states and 7 union territories. Revelation 7:10 says, ‘Every nation every tribe, every people and every tongue shall say: ‘Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!’ Acts 4:12 says, ‘Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.’ Redemption of our souls is possible only through Jesus; there’s no other way. Gospel is nothing but proclaiming that Jesus is the only way to be saved from our sins, to be delivered out of the bondage of our curses and to come out of darkness into His magnificent light. We are doing this in a concerted manner by targeting one State in the country every month in a year. If you would like to support this ministry, here’s how you can do it.

 NEWS MAGAZINES:

Perhaps the most visible part of The Christian Messenger’s ministry is the one in the media. It publishes two eponymous evangelical news magazines in English and Tamil that span the length and breadth of the country. The magazine remains dependent only on God and independent of any denomination or group of the Church. As a newspaper in its earlier avatar, the circulation of the periodical was 15,000. Currently, the magazines reach several thousand people every month. We are praying God will extend our print media ministry by helping us publish language publications in Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Bengali. Our fervent prayer is that the news magazines in English and Tamil will get 100,000 subscribers each. Subscriptions will go a long way in meeting the printing, staffing and book publishing expenses. We need volunteers who will pitch in to get us magazine subscriptions and regular offerings for the ministry. Will you pray with us for its fulfillment?  Click here to read our e-magazines.

CHURCH PLANTING

The Christian Messenger runs its mission fields in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir besides Tamil Nadu under Messenger Missions, a registered religious Trust. In all, we support five full-time evangelist-pastors and a few part-time evangelists. We preach the Gospel, distribute tracts and Bibles, start prayer groups, nurture them and wherever God leads plant churches. Besides regular financial support, these missions are supplied with Christian literature such as Gospel tracts, Bibles and commitment cards in various languages. Until sometime ago, besides these missions, it also supported a few village churches in north Tamil Nadu, a prison ministry in Maharashtra, and a slum ministry in Chennai.

WOMEN’S TAILORING MINISTRY

This ministry that began in 2012 has trained several women from poor background in and around the slums of Arumbakkam, RK Nagar, NSK Nagar, MMDA Colony and Aminjikarai. Several of them who were trained here are on their own – earning handsomely and running their homes. Most of these women come from broken homes where husbands are either dead or if alive are alcoholics, estranged, or hardly support their wives and children. We need dedicated Christian women who would teach the tailoring students on a voluntary basis. The classes are conducted from 10 am to 2 pm, Monday to Friday.

KINGDOM KIDS WORKSHOPS

Catch them young is the rationale behind holding Kingdom Kids Koinonia (K3) workshops. We are targeting children in the age group of 6 to 16 for the workshops. At the workshop, we teach children Biblical principles of Kingdom living through interactive games, activities, audio-visual aid and a short message. We need volunteers who will take up responsibility for holding workshops at different places. At the moment, we are holding a workshop every two or three months. We would like to scale it up to at least one workshop every month. We also want to take this to other cities in India.

MEDICAL CAMPS

Medical camps have been a regular missions outreach work of The Christian Messenger since 2007. Each medical camp attracts anywhere between 300 to 700 people from the villages. A team of 4 to 6 doctors under a mission-minded doctor couple assist The Christian Messenger in its medical camps. The camp sites are identified in remote places where even primary medical facilities are rare and access to quality health care is sometimes impossible. We need more doctors, nurses, pharmacists and volunteers to regularly conduct medical camps. To conduct a medical camp within 150 km of Chennai, we need resources for procuring medicines, health supplements, gifts and meeting travel and other incidental expenses. Pray God raises more volunteers and supporters for our medical missions.

SOUL HARVESTERS TRAINING MEETINGS

Most believers and evangelists in our country do not have access to Bible colleges or cannot simply afford them. While some do not have the required qualification to get into a Bible college, there are others who simply do not have the time to spare amidst their busy schedules. However, labourers are still few while the fields are ready for harvest. Realizing this need, The Christian Messenger has decided to lend its support to hold short-term training meetings for those who would like to commit their lives to be soul harvesters. It identifies churches that desire to send out and support missionaries from among its believers and works along with them. Qualified and experienced Christian leaders are identified and invited to train believers. They are equipped and molded into soul harvesters.

JESUS FILM SHOWS

The Christian Messenger has also been involved with the Jesus film shows. It has screened the film in several places in Tamil Nadu. This ministry is on hold now because of lack of support and infrastructure. We need a high-resolution projector and other paraphernalia to display films. Volunteers who will pitch in and work along with our evangelists and pastors in the mission fields will be much appreciated.

ONLINE EVANGELISM: The online portal of The Christian Messenger ministry went live in Sept 2007. It was re-launched in Dec 2010 with a greater vigor to reach the hundreds of thousands of people accessing the Internet every day. The website is accessed by a few thousand people who consume content available on tens of thousands of its web pages every month. The Christian Messenger also makes use of social media networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn among others. Every day, around 3,000 people access the website from over 160 countries around the world.

URBAN & SLUM CHILDREN’S MINISTRY

The Christian Messenger supports evangelists involved in urban and slum ministries in and around Chennai by equipping them with megaphones, Gospel tracts, Bibles besides monthly assistance. We also reach out to children in a few slums in Chennai during weekends by holding Sunday school for them.

FOREIGN MISSIONS

The Christian Messenger had to discontinue assistance to a mission centre based in Nepal due to budgetary constraints in 2007. This centre is still in need of resources. Besides Nepal, it is our desire to support missions in neighboring countries such as Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Myanmar, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Tibet with the Gospel. Some of these countries are difficult to reach due to military dictatorship, local laws and culture. | Support our ministry|
