hindu-dharm-jagran-samitiA large “ghar wapsi” (reconversion) ceremony, being planned by RSS affiliate Dharm Jagran Samiti in Aligarh on December 25, may lead to trouble as the district administration intends to deny permission for the event, while the outfit is adamant on going through with it.

According to pamphlets distributed by the outfit, the event is meant as retaliation to the “attack” on the nation by “Muslims, Christians, Maoists and terrorists”.

“India has been facing a battle between asuras (demons) and devs (gods). Today, the Indian society is under attack from Muslims, Christians, Maoists and terrorists and they want to end us as a nation,” reads a pamphlet by the outfit distributed along with right wing publications.

The pamphlet adds, “We being the ones fighting for gods are on the defensive, while they have gone on an all-out offensive to destroy the Indian culture. Their main weapon is Jihad.”

Speaking to The Indian Express, SSP Aligarh J Ravinder Goud said that so far, no one from the outfit has approached them for permission to hold the event. “However, even if such a request is made, we will not allow such an event to take place as this could vitiate the atmosphere. The administration is quite clear that it won’t allow the programme,” Goud said.

However, the outfit’s convenor Satprakash Navman said, “Come what may, the programme will take place on December 25 — even if it takes place in the fields.”

BJP MP Yogi Adityanath has been invited to be the chief guest at the event. The pamphlet insists that Hindus must take part to ensure purification of the Indian society.

Meanwhile, the local administration is learnt to have requisitioned additional police forces from nearby districts in an effort to thwart any untoward incident.

Christian associations are likely to form a human chain on the day as a mark of peace and solidarity. “We have been good friends with Hindus. We need to remind them of the harmonious atmosphere,” said Osmond Charles, a member of the Church of North India. Pragya Kaushika in The Indian Express
