NEW Life Assembly of God’s senior pastor and Assembly of God India’s general superintendent D Mohan was elected as the vice chairman of the World AG Fellowship at the sixth triennial World AG Congress that concluded in Chennai on Feb 9.

US AG general superintendent George Wood was elected to serve another three years as chairman of the World AG Fellowship.

The next World AG Congress (WAGC) will be held in the United States in 2014. The congress will coincide with the 100th anniversary of the US Assemblies of God.

The theme of the 2011 congress was ‘Forward!’ At  the inaugural rally, George O Wood who is also the president of the World Assemblies of God, spoke on the theme ‘Forward! In God’s Favor.’

At the congress, Lazarus Chakwera, president of Malawi Assemblies of God, was elected secretary. Titus Poon, general superintendent of Hong Kong, was appointed chairman of the World AG Relief (WAGRA).

According to Dr. Wood, the congress was not only a time of spiritual refreshing and community, but of global regeneration as the inspiration and motivation of the Holy Spirit was continuously evident.

“I believe that when we reconvene in 2014 for the seventh triennial World Congress to be held in Springfield, Missouri,” Wood said, “the Assemblies of God will have made massive advances through the power of God, for the kingdom of God, throughout the world.”

The WAGC 2011 boasted the largest international representation in the history of the event with nearly 1,000 delegates from 74 nations attending the congress.

The World AG Congress is held every three years to unite the worldwide Assemblies of God fellowship and to define new directions and goals, according to a release.
