Know God

Romans Road to salvation

1. Who needs salvation.

Everyone needs salvation because we have all sinned.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

“None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one. Their throat is an open grave; they use their tongues to deceive. The venom of asps is under their lips. Their mouth is full of curses and bitterness. Their feet are swift to shed blood; in their paths are ruin and misery, and the way of peace they have not known. There is no fear of God before their eyes.” Romans 3:10-18.

We have all sinned. We have all done things that are displeasing to God. There is no one who is innocent.

2. Why we need salvation.

The price (consequence) of sin is death.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23.

The punishment that we have earned for our sins is death. This is not just physical death, but eternal death!

3. How God provides salvation.

Jesus Christ died for our sins. He paid the price for our death at the Cross.

But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8.

Yes, Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God the Father, died for us. The death of Jesus paid for the price of our sins. His resurrection proves that God accepted Jesus’ death as the payment for our sins.

4. How we receive salvation.

We receive salvation and eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.

“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.” Romans 10:9.

Because Jesus died for us, all we have to do is believe in Him, trusting His death as the payment for our sins and we will be saved.

“For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13.

Jesus died to pay the penalty for our sins and rescue us from eternal death. Salvation, the forgiveness of sins, is available to anyone who will trust in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

5. The results of salvation.

Salvation through Jesus Christ brings us into a relationship of peace with God

“Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:1.

Yes, we have a relationship of peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Romans 8: 1.

“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separet us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8: 38-39.

Would you like to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? If so, here is a simple prayer you can pray to God. Saying this prayer is a way to declare to God that you are relying on Jesus Christ for your salvation. However, please remember that the words themselves will not save you, only your faith in Jesus Christ can provide salvation.

“God, I know that I have sinned against you and am deserving of punishment. But Jesus Christ took the punishment that I deserve so that through faith in Him I could be forgiven. With your help, I place my trust in you for my salvation. Thank you for your wonderful grace and forgiveness – the gift of eternal life! Amen!”

If you have prayed this prayer wholeheartedly and made a decision to live your life henceforth for Jesus Christ, remember you are saved!

To grow in Christ, please read the Bible every day, attend a faith-edifying church and fellowship with Christian believers and submit your thoughts, actions and words to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. May God bless you!
