Kane and Kellie and their daughter, Kaci, 10, had just moved into a new home.

Kane and Kellie recognized Kaci’s artistic talent. “Your dad and I want you to help bring some beauty into our new home,” said Kellie.

“What do you have in mind?” asked Kaci.

“We’ll be spending lots of time in the family room, so we’d like you to paint several portraits of Bible families on that room’s walls,” stated Kane. “Scenes like Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus, and Noah and his family aboard the Ark.”

“Your second project,” Kellie said, “will be to paint food-related scenes on the kitchen’s walls. “Scenes of cooking and baking will give great atmosphere to the room.

“Your final project will be to brighten up your own bedroom,” remarked Kellie.

“What do you have in mind for my room, mom and dad?”

“That’s up to you, Kaci,” Kane replied, “but I’d like to suggest painting several of the animals God created.”

“Super idea, dad!” Kaci gushed. “May I please paint my room first?”

“Certainly,” Kane replied. “You don’t have to go to school tomorrow, so that will be fine.”

Before she fell asleep, Kaci made a short list of the animals she wanted to paint: An elephant, a lion, a lamb, and a bear.

Kaci and her parents ate a delicious breakfast the next morning. Kane then headed to work and Kellie began cleaning the house.

Kaci began painting Eleanor, the world’s first elephant, a beautiful creature. Next, Kaci painted a kingly lion, which she nicknamed “The Loyal Royal.

As Kaci completed the bear’s wall, she grinned, “You’re the best-looking bear painting ever!” The bear seemingly smiled back.

Kaci’s painting of the lamb included a crystal clear stream running through a lush, green meadow. She thought of the first two verses of Psalm 23, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.”

Kellie and Kane were thrilled at the transformation of their daughter’s bedroom walls. “The lion looks like such a powerful ruler!” Kane exclaimed.

“The meek lamb painting thrills me!” said Kellie. “The lamb and the lion look so different, yet so similar.”

“They are identical!” Kaci beamed. “The lamb represents Jesus as God’s Lamb who died on the cross for us. The lion depicts Jesus as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, who is coming back to rule the earth!”

Kaci appreciated her parents for their strong encouragement and support. “Thanks very much,” she said.

“You’re a lot like your dad,” said Kane. “When you start a job, you like to finish it.”

“You’re a lot like your mom, too,” said Kellie. “You like to do a job right the first time!”
