FIR names three for Sister Valsa murder

Indian policeTHE investigation into the gruesome murder of Sister Valsa John is gathering momentum with the loding of the FIR (first information report) against 3 individuals at Ambrapara police station.

The FIR has named Advin Murmu, a Pachuara resident, and two others. Police is also questioning seven villagers who were once associated with the nun.

On Nov 18, Jharkhand Mines Area Co-ordination Committee, supported by several civic and human rights organizations, organized a protest march in Ranchi. The protesters alleged that the murder had been carried out by the mining company and not by the Maoists.

According to a media report, a senior official of Panem Coal Mines Ltd had visited Valsa’s home soon after the murder. It is he, who had submitted a number of Maoist posters to the Police, saying that he had recovered them from Sr. Valsa’s place, protesters alleged.
