Leo-GodzichDR. Leo Godzich, an associate pastor at Phoenix First Assembly of God and the founder of the National Association of Marriage Enhancement (NAME), was killed Thursday along with three others, when the vehicle he was traveling in was crushed between two trucks on the Jinja-Iganga highway in Uganda.

Godzich, who was in Uganda as an evangelist speaking at marriage enhancement seminars, was traveling in a Toyota Super Custom (similar to a large van) when a truck in front of them suddenly slowed for a “hump” in the road. However, the truck following behind them did not slow down, crushing the Super Custom between the two trucks – only the driver survived, while Godzich and the three other passengers in the vehicle were killed instantly.

According to a tribute page to Godzich, “He was a forefront leader in the cause of the covenant of marriage. He helped legislate laws in Arizona and work on national grants for family health. His NAME ministry had around 200 counseling centers, some of those being international.”

Godzich is survived by his wife, Molly, and three daughters. There will be a memorial service at Phoenix First Assembly at 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 2. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to NAME in Godzich’s name. AG News
