About the founders
Robin Sam, a journalist by training, is the founder of The Christian Messenger newspaper and ministry. Born into a traditional Christian family from Kerala in India, Robin accepted the Lord as his savior when he was 13. However, after much backsliding and waywardness he committed his life to the Lord again when he was 25 when he realized how God saved his life from a near fatal accident just days before his marriage. Five years later, he felt the calling of God on his life. Though he ignored it initially, the calling only grew stronger. In between, he experimented with a business and lost heavily. However, the Lord healed his brokenness. After much prayer and fasting, he confirmed the Lord’s calling into His ministry. Thus was born The Christian Messenger ministry. For 8 years now, he has been involved in the ministry. Since 2008, he has been serving Jesus Christ as a fulltime worker. | Read Robin Sam’s blogs here |
Elsy Robin, a promising district-level athlete in school days, wanted to be a Physical Education Trainer. She grew up in circumstances very similar to Robin’s. She had a very traditional Christian upbringing. The youngest of three daughters, Elsy accepted Jesus as her Lord and savior when she was working in the hotel industry. Later, at a very young age she got into the stock trading business. Although the business really flourished for sometime, great was its fall. Thanks to a greedy partner who compromised the financial security of the company, she suffered huge losses in her business. She was depressed and heartbroken. However, the Lord who never forsakes His children comforted her and brought her out of her brokenness. God enabled her father to pay off all her debts to the last rupee. God, in His time, changed all the negatives in her life into positives. She is the co-founder of The Christian Messenger ministry. She has taken a short sabbatical from the ministry to bring up their young son.
The Robins have two children – Sandra (11) and Steven (3). They live in Chennai and worship at the Assembly of God Church in Anna Nagar, Chennai.
