4 things Nepal earthquake remind us

Nepal-quake-2ARE there things that God wants us to see beyond the obvious? What is it that God wants us to realize through the catastrophic earthquake that wiped out the lives of thousands of people in Nepal yesterday? Here are four things that you and I need to know.

  1. The return of the Lord is near:

‘For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows.’(Mark 13:8)

‘And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.’ (Revelation 22:12,13)

  1. Don’t see it as judgment on the Nepalese:

‘There were present at that season some who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. And Jesus answered and said to them, “Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things? I tell you, no…’ (Luke 13:1-3)

  1. We could have been dead too:

‘…but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem? 5 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.’ (Luke 13:1-5)

  1. God’s grace sustains us:

‘I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the LORD sustains me.’ (Psalm 3:5)
