IT seems like every week there are news articles revealing new death statistics. In the past 24 hours stories about maternal deaths and the suicide death rate have been published, according to Google News.

This infographic by Your Tribute reveals some interest death statistics:

  • In the United States the average life expectancy for women is 81.17 years and 75.96 years for men.
  • An estimated 150,000 people worldwide die each day.

The Bible encourages us to make our time count for the Kingdom of God. We are told to “redeem the time” (Ephesians 5:16) and “number our days” (Psalm 90:12).

If the average American lives for 78 years, they can expect to spend at least the first 21 years getting an education if they attend college and then 46 years in the workforce if they retire at 67 years old. Obviously women that take time to raise children at home will have shorter careers.

With so many baby boomers retiring, it would be great if some of them would volunteer their time to missions to advance the Gospel. The average retiree at 67 will live for 11 more years. Let’s make these years count for Christ.
